There\'s no rest for the weary, it seems. As Toyota Motor Philippines was busy launching the all-new Corolla Altis to the media last night, the Japanese carmaker was teasing the followers of its Facebook fan page with the car it will launch next: the mini car it now calls Wigo.
As we first reported in August 2013, the Wigo--known as the Agya in Indonesia where TMP will source its units from--is a 1.0-liter five-door city car. And as we mentioned then, the Wigo\'s introduction into the Philippine market would happen in early 2014 once its production run for Indonesia commenced in September 2013. Like our source said, Toyota Indonesia would have to satisfy its local market first before it could produce units for export to overseas markets.
While TMP has yet to release the Wigo\'s price, a sales professional at one dealership quoted it at P430,000. If this is indeed true, then the Wigo undercuts the prices of a number of cars in its class by as little as P8,000 to as much as P179,000. Expect this car to be launched next month.
If P430,000 is indeed the correct price, do you think the Wigo will be another bestseller for Toyota?
