While we sit on our hands waiting for the Leaf to finally arrive here in the Philippines, Nissan’s best-selling electric vehicle continues to get upgrades in other markets.

This time around, it’s the Leaf Nismo that gets certain enhancements. Nissan revealed that it has added a new quick-steering ratio to improve the vehicle’s performance. Specifically, the steering mechanism ratio has been reduced from 18.3 to 14.9 to optimize handling through tight and S-shaped corners.

Nissan has also given the Leaf Nismo a new suspension setup to further improve handling and make the steering even more responsive when cornering. The hydraulic controls of the brakes have also been tuned to provide greater, more precise stopping power.

The updated Leaf Nismo also gets a few aesthetic additions. There are new heated Recaro seats that “enhance the sense of unity with the car.” These seats are clad in a mix of leather and Alcantara and come as an option. The red highlights on the seats are featured as contrast trims and stitching on the tiller, dash, and side panels.

No changes were made to the vehicle’s powertrain, so at the core of the updated Leaf Nismo is the same 150hp electric motor powered by a 40kWh battery. Pricing for this new model is set at ¥4,294,400, or around P1.975 million.

What do you think of the updated EV? When Nissan Philippines finally launches the Leaf, do you think the carmaker should bring in this Nismo variant along with it?
