In addition to launching the Carry workhorse this week, Suzuki Philippines also introduced the newest base variant of the Dzire subcompact sedan as it continues to target the needs of various business owners across the country.

The new Dzire GA is simply a stripped-down version of the existing variants, with fewer flourishes on the outside and fewer electronic controls on the inside. The only changes made to the exterior are the wheels, which have been downgraded from alloy to steel. Meanwhile, the cabin pretty much looks the same as before, only a bit in terms of tech. The steering-wheel controls have been removed and the audio setup has been minimized to a single-DIN AM/FM radio unit with two front speakers. Power windows, power side mirrors, and central door locking are absent as well.

Under the hood, however, the new GA variant sees no changes. Propelling it is the same 1.2-liter K12M engine that produces 82hp and 113Nm of torque. This powertrain won’t give you a sense that you’ve been shortchanged, especially with the cheaper P549,900 price tag that this vehicle carries.

What do you think of Suzuki’s decision to make the already-affordable Dzire even more budget-friendly?
