Motor Image—Subaru’s official Philippine distributor—and Motul have just announced a partnership which will have the lubricant specialist’s products used in the Japanese carmaker’s service centers.

The new two-year deal—valued at over $5 million (P260 million) annually—will apply to eight markets: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and of course, the Philippines.

“Subaru has been closely linked with Motul since its motorsports racing days, and Motul is closely associated with the STI brand,” Tan Chong International Limited managing director Glenn Tan said in a statement.

“We are happy to partner with Motul again, to reestablish a long-term relationship to provide the best quality products for our Subaru customers,” Tan added.

Motul Japan chairman Masaki Shimizu shared Tan’s sentiment: “Motorsports is part of Motul’s DNA, and Motul has been closely linked with Subaru and the STI brand since the Subaru World Rally Team competed in the World Rally Championship back in the ’80s.”

“We believe this collaboration will further strengthen its partnership with Subaru beyond just motorsports,” the executive added.

The first exclusive Subaru lubricant products to be launched are the 0W20 and 5W30 Motul synthetic engine oils.
